I am pleased to present our newest Eagle Scouts, Kevin Kelley and Alex Duff
I am pleased to present our newest Eagle Scouts, Kevin Kelley and Alex Duff, who passed their boards of review Thursday night.
Kevin, a junior at Summit High School, held various leadership positions in the Kite patrol, served as Patrol Leader and earned 22 merit badges. His favorite merit badge was First Aid which helped him realize he is interested in a career in the medical field as an EMT or a Doctor. For his Eagle project, Kevin built Picnic tables and benches for Summit High School. He noticed the students did not have enough places to sit, talk and eat at Campus. Kevin found plans, obtained approval and raised over $1700 for materials. Kevin donated the remaining funds to Summit High School. Thirteen people helped on this project for a total of 152 hours.
Alex, a senior at St. Francis, most recently served as Patrol Leader of the Cow Patrol while earning 22 merit badges. Alex noted his favorite merit badges as Small Boat Sailing and Auto Maintenance which he now refers to as a hobby. His favorite activity in Troop 64 was backpacking, noting the week-long trip in Yosemite as a standout. Alex is awaiting responses from Colleges, planning to study Education with a goal of teaching. For his Eagle project, he managed the building of five benches at Christ Church in Portola valley. 14 people helped on this project for a total of 119.5 volunteer hours.
Thanks to Eagle advisor Dave Duff for arranging the board of review, to Peggy Gluck from the Redwood District, and to Phil Bourgeois and Elianne Frenkel-Popell from T64 for serving.
