Scouts Earn Rank of Eagle
I am pleased to present our two newest Eagle Scouts, Rahm Humphries-Hodge and Terry Wang, who passed their Boards of Review tonight.
Rahm joined Cub Scouts as a first-grader in Portola Valley ’s Pack 163 and continued until he joined Boy Scouts in fifth grade. For his Eagle project, he built eight “cat condos” for the Peninsula Humane Society. The cat condos are wood cubes that cats can live in while waiting for permanent homes, then be cleaned with bleach without degrading. Rahm led nine other people for a total of 178 hours of work. He is currently a freshman at Woodside High School and played water polo this fall.
Terry joined our pack as a fourth-grader and transitioned to the troop right after fifth grade. While working as the volunteer student store manager at Corte Madera School last year, he recognized the need for a better way of storing and displaying the goods for sale and keeping them safe from ants. For his Eagle project, he designed and led the building of plastic display cases and wooden shelves and cabinets for storage, leading 18 people for a total of 164 hours of work. Terry is currently a freshman at Woodside Priory and also played water polo this fall.
Thanks to Dave Duff (and Gerry Sauer, who is retiring) for coordinating the Board of Review. Thanks also to Peggy Gluck and David You, who were Eagle Chairs from the Redwood District, and Marty Bronk, Janet Briggs, and Eagle Ron Dalman for serving on the Board. In the upcoming months we expect to have an Eagle BoR for Paul Gilles.
