glacier lakesWe’ll hike about 5.5 miles to a beautiful mountain lake in the Tahoe National Forest.  Starting location is Carr Lake Campground https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/tahoe/recarea/?recid=55594

See the full hike at Alltrails Glacier Lake Hike

For those that have been to Dinky lakes, the scenery is similar but the elevation is lower.  As this is national forest, no reservations are required.

Backpacking at Point Reyes National Seashore, December 20-21, 2014

This is the start of the holiday break for most schools. This will be a quick trip, leaving Saturday morning and returning by mid-Sunday afternoon.

200704Reyes_DSC00972What? backpacking in the winter? Yes, it’s a great way to escape the holiday chaos and get back to nature. I even walked barefoot on the beach last year.  We will backpack into Coast Camp near Sculptured Beach, which has a really neat sea cave. It’s about 2 miles in and 3 miles out.

E-mail me if you want to go. Several Moose are on the list. We are limited to 25 people. First come, first served. (more…)
